Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is cited to be one of the common causes of emergency department visits. Of these injuries, more than 75% are categorized as mild TBIs.
Head computed tomography (CT) remains the imaging modality of choice for the diagnosis of patients with mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). However, it has been suggested that CT imaging for mTBI patients is overutilized. This concept, has prompted a search for tools that can effectively and safely identify patients not needing CT imaging.
Our expert group meeting will discuss the challenges & shortcomings of the current approaches in diagnosis of Mild TBI and explore the use of biomarkers in clinical care.
